GETTING STARTED

Starting counselling can feel like a big step.

If you've been thinking about counselling but aren't quite sure where to begin, you're welcome to get in touch.

I know that speaking to someone new about personal things can feel a little daunting. We can start with a simple conversation, where you can ask me any questions you have, and we can take it from there.

15 minutes by phone. No pressure or obligation.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

We can take it one step at a time.

01 / GET IN TOUCH

Start with a conversation

We can begin with a free 15-minute introductory phone call. I'll ask a little about what has brought you to counselling and what you're hoping to gain from it. You can also ask me anything you'd like to know about how I work.

02 / INTRODUCTORY CALL

A chance to see how it feels

I'll explain what I can offer and how we might work together. It's important that you feel comfortable with your choice of counsellor, so there's no obligation to continue after our introductory call.

03 / IF YOU’D LIKE TO CONTINUE

We arrange your first session

If you decide you'd like to go ahead, we'll agree on a suitable appointment and whether you'd prefer to meet in person in Harlow, online or by telephone. When we first meet, we'll take time to get to know each other and begin exploring what you'd like from counselling.

YOUR SESSIONS

Starting where you are

There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what to say, and you don’t have to tell your whole story in the first session.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST SESSION

A few things you might want to know.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No. You don’t need to prepare what you are going to say or have a clear explanation of what is wrong. We can start wherever feels right for you.

What if I’m nervous about the first session?

That’s completely understandable. Starting counselling can feel unfamiliar, and there is no expectation that you immediately feel comfortable talking about everything. We can take things at your pace.

How long is the introductory call?

The introductory phone call is approximately 15 minutes and is free of charge.

Do I have to decide during the introductory call?

No. The call is simply an opportunity for us to talk, ask questions and see whether working together feels right. There is no obligation to book a session.

Can we meet online?

Yes. Counselling is available in person in Harlow, online or by phone. We can discuss which option feels most suitable for you.
